More than 3.75 million alternators are manufactured annually at the plant in Cardiff which has received major awards from car manufacturers - it now produces the new LI-X alternator.
Bosch has been responsible for developing many significant automotive innovations that contribute to lowering fuel consumption and CO2 emissions with developments in gasoline direct injection, common rail diesel injection and gearbox control. Bosch can draw on its broad systems expertise to integrate these new technologies fully into the future powertrain management strategies, further enhancing environmental protection.
Bosch is also committed to vehicle safety with the development of active and passive safety systems such as the Antilock Braking System (ABS) and the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP®), together with many others.
The ESP® system for chassis control has been in production since 1995 and contributes significantly to road safety, thanks to its ability to prevent skidding, thereby helping to reduce accidents. More than 20 million systems have been supplied and there is continual development to link ESP® with other safety functions within vehicles. Additional systems include airbag controllers with front, side and rear sensors, rollover sensing, adaptive cruise control, autonomous parking, lane departure warning and Night Vision.
