Promoting engineering at schools – a Bosch CSR project concludes

On 19th April, Bosch launched a CSR initiative with The Misbourne School, a school local to our headquarters in Denham, to try and encourage young people to to consider a career in engineering for the future. Science communication consultant Huw James, along with representatives from Bosch, went to the school to run a workshop with a group of students aged 13-15.

The current shortage of engineers in the UK means it’s important to continue to encourage young people to consider careers in science and engineering.

STEMNET is a UK government initiative whose vision is to increase young people's choice and chances through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), something that Bosch is keen to support.

Bosch Product Guarantee Rises to Four Years on Selected Freestanding Appliances

To celebrate 125 years of Bosch, the water and energy saving appliance brand (Bosch Siemens) is adding an extra two years to its standard two-year guarantee, giving customers even greater peace of mind with a four year guarantee that includes call outs, parts and labour. The promotion will run from 14th September until 31st December 2011 on selected Bosch freestanding dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges and freezers.

Bosch Rexroth has entered The Energy Awards (www.theenergyawards.com), a new awards event starting this year. With 13 categories, the Energy Awards is the only event that recognises achievement in cutting emissions across the entire energy industry. On Thursday, 26th May, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the UK’s leading automotive trade body, successfully organised the 20th driving day for over 290 motoring journalists to test cars from 37 different cars companies at the Millbrook test track north of London.

Bosch Healthcare Stand Attracts Attention at NHS Confederation Conference

The Bosch health care stand which was present at the NHS Confederation Conference from 6th-8th July was a huge success. The stand was visited by Health Secretary Andrew Lansley and Sir David Nicholson, Chief Executive of the NHS in England which was a highlight of the show.

The Misbourne school students create innovative trophies using Bosch products

To celebrate Bosch’s 125th anniversary, the company partnered up with the Misbourne School in Great Missenden to offer a competition to the school’s students to design and create trophies using parts from various Bosch products. The competition which spanned over 12 weeks of workshop sessions under the guidance of a professional artist aimed to encourage students to acquire a new technical skill through practical learning.

The Bosch Technology Horizons award, an essay writing competition for young people between the ages of 12 and 24, aims to raise the profile of engineering and technology amongst the young people. The 2011 winners of the Bosch Technology Horizons Award were recognised at an awards evening which was held at the Guildhall.
