Bosch is enjoying strong growth in Ireland
Bosch is present in almost every country in the world and has more than 400,000 employees across the planet. It’s not easy for the company to find markets in which it has a real opportunity to grow but Ireland is one such location.
Bosch’s presence in Ireland is focused on Dublin, which is home to BSH (Bosch’s home appliances business), Power Tools, Home Comfort (including household boilers and heat pumps), and Mobility Aftermarket divisions.
Brian McMenamin is the Director of Bosch Ireland. He’s been with BSH for 18 years and has worked in the industry throughout his career. In 2019 he took on the challenge of expanding Bosch’s business in Ireland.
“Since then, it’s been a really successful story,” he says. “There has been a lot of investment in Ireland in recent decades and that’s ultimately led to opportunities for BSH, Power Tools, Home Comfort, as well as other the solutions that Bosch offers.”
Historically, BSH had a distributor model in Ireland. But in 2016 BSH opened a showroom in Dublin with local sales and marketing departments to support it. Every year, around 6,000 consumers visit the showroom.
Power Tools set up a training and demonstration area in the showroom last year, and there are around 50 Bosch Car Service centres across the country. Bosch Rexroth supports factories in Ireland to be as efficient as possible through automation, and there are opportunities in agriculture as well.
“All our divisions are getting a good level of growth from a small base, and there's much more potential too,” adds Brian. “One of the reasons I love working for Bosch is we're coming up with new things all the time. One thing I’m proud of at Bosch Ireland is that we're perfectly positioned to pilot projects. And another thing I would say is that we're delighted to see new talent coming to work for us. Come and talk to Bosch Ireland about projects and careers and let’s see what's possible.”
